Upcoming Mother’s Day Tea -27 February 2016

On Sunday, 6 March, we’ll once again be celebrating Mother’s Day with a tea, to which all are warmly invited, at 5pm.

This popular fixture in our annual calendar is always well attended, with a good supply of food and ‘bottomless’ cups of tea on offer. Our suggestion is to arrive early to get a good seat.

Following the tea, we’ll enjoy a brief time of singing and a short talk from the Bible and our time together is usually over by 6:30pm.

Mother’s Day Tea – 10th March 2013

We had around 60 people at this year’s Mother’s Day Tea.

Expectant crowds at the Mother’s Day Tea

With a number of our Young People away at their weekend in Swindon, it fell to Victor to ‘host’ the tea.

Further excitement occurred in the kitchen when it was realised that the trusty ‘Burco’ water heater had failed and we had to rely on numerous kettles to provide tea.

Fortunately the expectant crowd were not kept waiting for long and were soon treated to the usual spread of sandwiches, scones, cakes and the traditional finale of jelly and ice cream.

We were delighted to have Nathan Moore along to speak to us over the tea-table.  Nathan gave a short, amusing talk on Jesus being similar to a mother hen gathering her chicks to herself.

We now look forward to our forthcoming Family Service, which takes place next Sunday.

Invitation for Mother's Day Tea 2011

We had a good time for our annual Mother’s Day Tea, at Parkside with around 60 people coming along to enjoy a variety of food on offer.

The tea was ‘chaired’ by David Hedges and he welcomed people, gave thanks for the food and invited those there to ‘tuck in’!

Sandwiches, scones, crisps and cake a-plenty were devoured by the hungry masses with the coloured jelly proving popular as usual.

After the tea we enjoyed singing a few of the Sunday Club favourites before Victor came up to speak for a few minutes expanding on John 3:16 – For God loved the world so much that He gave his one and only son, Jesus Christ, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.

All of the Mums at the tea were given a small present to take home with them.

It was especially good to welcome various people for the first time, including Andrew Burdett and his family, as well welcoming back other more familiar faces.

Our next Family Service is on 1st May at 11.30am.
