This summer we will once again be out in Kidwells Park, located just behind Parkside, in St Lukes Road for our Coffee in the Park.
We’ll have a marquee out and will be serving free hot and cold drinks and biscuits between 10.45am and 12.15pm as well as offering an activity such as colouring for children while their parents enjoy a drink.
Proposed dates for 2011 will be:
1st October
We’ll also be out in the park once again for Maidenhead Carnival on 11th June 2011.

We had a good time for our annual Mother’s Day Tea, at Parkside with around 60 people coming along to enjoy a variety of food on offer.
The tea was ‘chaired’ by David Hedges and he welcomed people, gave thanks for the food and invited those there to ‘tuck in’!
Sandwiches, scones, crisps and cake a-plenty were devoured by the hungry masses with the coloured jelly proving popular as usual.
After the tea we enjoyed singing a few of the Sunday Club favourites before Victor came up to speak for a few minutes expanding on John 3:16 – For God loved the world so much that He gave his one and only son, Jesus Christ, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.
All of the Mums at the tea were given a small present to take home with them.
It was especially good to welcome various people for the first time, including Andrew Burdett and his family, as well welcoming back other more familiar faces.
Our next Family Service is on 1st May at 11.30am.
We enjoyed having Ken Rudge with us for our fifth conference in our current series on 1 John.
Ken took us through 1 John chapter 4.
Below are live tweets from the evening. You can also listen to the conference again, at the bottom of the page.
We'll be live tweeting tonight from our conference on 1 John 4 with our speaker Ken Rudge.

Our subject tonight is 'By this we know that we abide in Him'.

As background, John was an elderly man by the time he wrote this letter. He was keen to show the true from the false message.
— Parkside Christn Fwp (@ParksideCF) March 12, 2011
John is keen to establish and strengthen the believers in his letter by referring back to the original message of salvation.
— Parkside Christn Fwp (@ParksideCF) March 12, 2011
John begins his letter with going back to basics and dealing with sin in chapter 1.

Chapter 4:1-6 looks at testing the spirits. Everything that seems to come from God may not necessarily do so. Must embrace the TRUTH.
— Parkside Christn Fwp (@ParksideCF) March 12, 2011
Important to only accept that which comes from God. V3 '..every spirit that does not acknowledge Jesus is not from God.'
— Parkside Christn Fwp (@ParksideCF) March 12, 2011
V6 We are from God…whoever knows God listens to us..whoever is not from God does not listen… This is how we recognise Spirit of Truth.
— Parkside Christn Fwp (@ParksideCF) March 12, 2011
V7-12 looks at the source of love. V7 'Dear friends, let us love one another for love comes from God.' Cannot get love from anywhere else.
— Parkside Christn Fwp (@ParksideCF) March 12, 2011
V8 '..God is love.' V9 God showed his love to us: He sent his one and only Son as a sacrifice for our sins.' His son paid the price for us.
— Parkside Christn Fwp (@ParksideCF) March 12, 2011
Consequences of God loving us then (v11) '..since God so loved us we ought also to love one another.'
— Parkside Christn Fwp (@ParksideCF) March 12, 2011
We are left to show God's love through our lives by helping others and letting God's love shine through.
— Parkside Christn Fwp (@ParksideCF) March 12, 2011
We should have confidence in God's love. V16 'we KNOW and RELY on love God has for us. V18 '..no fear in love..perfect love drives out fear'
— Parkside Christn Fwp (@ParksideCF) March 12, 2011
V19 'We love because he first loved us.' If we love God we should love each other.
— Parkside Christn Fwp (@ParksideCF) March 12, 2011
We finish with the singing of 'O love that will not let me go' and prayer.

We had around fifty people at our first Family Service of the year.
The opening service of the year was chaired by Phil Bray (@PhilBray) and began with the singing of ‘Amazing Grace’. This was followed by prayer and our second hymn, ‘What kind of love is this’. The music was supplied by Kerry on piano and accompanied by Judith on guitar.
During the service we learned 2 Corithians 5:17 – If anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come. Various people came up to the front to help.
We also sung a few choruses that the childen from Sunday Club normally have on a Sunday morning.
Finally, before Paul Cogger came to speak, we sung the hymn ‘Majesty’.
Paul took us through the story of Jesus changing water into wine based around the headings ‘Marriage‘, ‘Mother‘, ‘Moment‘, ‘Message‘ and ‘Miracle‘. He finished with a clever demonstration by pouring water out of a bottle, which turned red in a glass.
The service finished with the final hymn ‘I stand amazed in the presence’ and prayer.
It was generally agreed the it had been a good opening to the Family Services and we’re looking forward to our Mother’s Day tea on April 3rd at 5pm.
