Our main reading is from Daniel 1:1-21. Although Daniel begins the story as a very young man, v21 reminds us of his longevity. #PCFConf

Daniel set in place things in his life while he was young that lasted all his life. #PCFConf

Daniel also mentioned indirectly in Hebrews 11:33-34 and v39. He was characterised by righteousness, great faith and wisdom. #PCFConf

Daniel and his friends were taken into captivity in c.606BC to Babylonia. They were chosen to stand before the king. #PCFConf

Daniel was put into a position where he would be moulded as a Babylonian. Similar to us today 'in the world but not of the world'. #PCFConf
— Parkside Christn Fwp (@ParksideCF) November 9, 2013
Many things outside Daniel's control, including new names which encompassed names of Babylonian gods. #PCFConf

Daniel drew the line when it came to eating the king's food. It may have been offered to idols and also some foods were forbidden. #PCFConf

Daniel's principles were clearly installed at an early age. Daniel, Barnabas and Paul all 'purposed in their heart'. #PCFConf
— Parkside Christn Fwp (@ParksideCF) November 9, 2013
As christians we should also have 'purpose in our hearts'. Daniel was universally liked and asked to be tested for ten days. #PCFConf
— Parkside Christn Fwp (@ParksideCF) November 9, 2013
Are we willing to be tested as christians? #PCFConf
— Parkside Christn Fwp (@ParksideCF) November 9, 2013
Daniel learned at an early age to put things into God's hands. God blessed Daniel and his friends for their faithfulness v17. #PCFConf
— Parkside Christn Fwp (@ParksideCF) November 9, 2013
Daniel proved that 'God is able'. In 1 Cor 10:13 God promises to 'not let us be tempted beyond that which we can bear'. #PCFConf
— Parkside Christn Fwp (@ParksideCF) November 9, 2013
Daniel didn't have an easy life, but he, like us as christians, was able to get through it with God's help. #PCFConf

Our next conference is on 14 December, when we're expecting Steve Buckeridge speaking on Gideon: a nobody's faith. #PCFConf
