This evening we started our winter series of conferences with a visit from Bernard Osborne who began our studies in 1 Timothy with a look at chapter 1.

Timothy was brought up in a godly home and was taught the scriptures by his mother and grandmother from a child.

Timothy seems to have been timid but was clearly held in high regard by Paul. He was sent by Paul to Philippi and other places.

False teaching was divisive and legalistic. Can be countered by presenting sound teaching (v10). Today we forget the importance of teaching.

Annual Conference – 24th September 2011

We enjoyed a visit from Brian Howden for our Annual Conference this year. During the afternoon, Brian gave a report on the work in Angola and in the evening, after tea, he followed it up with ministry.

Camundambala is a small village of 250 houses and site of a former mission station built in 1943. It is six miles from Saurimo.

One aspect of the work at Camundambala is the care of lepers. A number of them attend the meetings and are in fellowship there.

TB is more of a problem in Angola than leprosy.

First Annual Conference at Camundambala took place last year with many attending from other local assemblies.

One of the big issues in Angola is immorality among young people in fellowship. Much prayer needed.

Witchcraft is another big problem among the fellowships in Angola. More prayer needed regarding this.

Around 450 pupils from six local villages attend the school in Camundambala. IT classes take place for years 5 and 6.

This year’s Annual Conference takes place on Saturday 24th September 2011.

We’re expecting a visit from Brian Howden who will give a report on the work in Angola during the afternoon.

Following refreshments, Brian will then be giving ministry from the Bible during the evening. We hope you’ll be able to join us for either, or both sessions.
